When Dutch artist Marjolein Bastin was a very young girl, she created a sketchbook of the wonders of nature that she saw all around her. These drawings were “little things that I thought of as my treasures.” This fascination with the outdoors continued through art school and a career as a noted nature artist, children’s author and illustrator.
In the early-90s, Marjolein came to the attention of Hallmark Cards, initiating a relationship that has spanned the years and placed her “Nature’s Sketchbook” line among the company’s best-selling offerings. When Crazy Mountain’s Marjolein Bastin Collection, consisting of her designs on candle, votive and tart warmers as well as dip chillers, was introduced at the Atlanta Gift Show, delighted buyers quickly made it the overwhelming hit of the show.
